LORNA KATZ AIA

 

Ms Katz’s architectural practice has concentrated on interior design such as Delaware Valley College’s Smart Classroom Project which successfully used low maintenance elements but created an elegant overall appearance to the room. Clients include primarily institutions, but, also commercial businesses and home owners. Ms Katz is a registered architect in Pennsylvania.

After seven years as staff architect with Mitchell/Giurgola Architects her design input was recognized for widely published projects including the Columbus East High School Natatorium, Columbus, IN, the Wainwright State Office Building Competition, St. Louis, MO, the Custom Furnishings Design, of the St. Bede Worship Assembly Building, Peru, IL, and the "G" and "D" Buildings Interiors, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Lester, PA. 

Prior to joining John Lawson Architects, Ms. Katz was partner of her own firm, Lorna Katz AIA Architect.  Previously she was partners with Elizabeth Train, AISD in the firm Katz Train Architects.

Educated at Barnard College and Bennington College, Ms. Katz received her Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. She has taught interior design at Nesbitt College, Drexel University, and has served on juries at many local institutions, Drexel University, Temple University and Philadelphia University. Ms. Katz is a Corporate Member of the American Institute of Architects. 

Active in neighborhood design advocacy. Executive Board Member, Society Hill Civic Association, where Ms Katz served as Chairperson of the Zoning Committee of the Society Hill Civic Association where she was also a member of the Executive Board for eight years  and established a method for community input in zoning  issues and concern for the quality of life in urban environment issues. She worked with the public and government to produce projects that benefit all parties
