The "Surgery Theatre" is a technologically fully interactive facility through wireless digital media with a state-of-the-art audio-visual program, including three large plasma screens and two cameras which focus on both audience and speaker to interact within or outside of the space. The organizational geometry of the 1500sf theatre is derived from the layout of 100 seats, to facilate good visability of the room's three plasma monitors and the speaker. The walls between the windows are splayed forming alcoves containing window seats to provide a comfortable place for casual conversations. Cherry veneer paneling was selected to maintain the tradition of the seminar room wood paneling. Synthetic leather was selected for the upholstered seating. Bronze channels run continuously around the room as a reveal between the wood panels and a horizontal datum. Indirect lighting fixtures illuminate the audience when teleconferencing is in process. The aluminum-framed glass wall between the Surgery Theatre and the public corridor is angled to make the facility more visible from the main entrance lobby to the hospital. Bronze channels are attached to the aluminum mullions to articulate the vertical and horizontal members in a Miesian manner.
